Heading for Land Again
Posted on 26. May, 2009 by admin in Latest News
The crews of Peter von Danzig and Spirit of Bermuda both report they are all very excited now they have passed the half way point and are now firmly heading towards Bermuda.
On Spirit, they’ve been making the most of a beautiful day with some good winds with some exercise, laundry, buzz cuts and a thorough ship-wide cleanup. They managed to catch a Mahi Mahi, the tail of which was hung from the tip of the bowsprit in a Hawaiian tradition for ensuring fair winds. They report the sashimi was excellent!
Peter von Danzig published their mid Ocean Newspaper and enjoyed a half time party as they crossed the half way mark. Last night they experienced some stormy gusts and had to end their 54hour spinnaker run but their food supplies are holding out well and they are all enjoying the sailing and getting excited about landing in Bermuda.
The fleet’s progress on the race can be seen via the fleet tracking.
The list of all the vessels positions on corrected time can be seen in the Vessel Positions Update.
